Inova Primary Care - Sterling is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join the team. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, within Inova Health System. You will admit and schedule patients, perform insurance verifications, and provide financial counseling to ensure smooth patient access.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of patient access experience required.

Responsabilités

• Manage patient intake, registration & documentation; verify authorizations and index documents.
• Prepare schedules and track records across multiple systems.
• Coordinate case management tasks and financial counseling when needed.
• Assess coverage and initiate financial assistance when appropriate.
• Resolve patient inquiries and concerns and document follow-ups.
• Educate patients on kiosks and report usage trends.
• Coordinate with departments for patient communication and referrals.
• Schedule specialty visits and coordinate preparation.
• Arrange transportation for patients with special needs.
• Assist with HIM coordination and release of information as needed.
• Provide documentation to utilization review teams.

Inova Primary Care - Sterling is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join the team. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, office hours 8:00am-5:00pm. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will adhere to Inova Health System's "Service Excellence" standards while admitting/scheduling patients, conducting insurance verifications and providing financial counseling.

Patient Access Specialist Job Responsibilities

• Patient Intake, Registration & Documentation: Manages complex cases, resolves errors, confirms authorizations, validates, and indexes documents.
• Administrative & Technology Operations: Prepares schedules, tracks records, and navigates multiple systems efficiently.
• Case Management Tasks: Coordinates documentation and follows up on case-related tasks.
• Financial Counseling: Assesses coverage and initiates financial assistance.
• Insurance & Contract Coordination: Applies payer-specific rules, resolves issues, and identifies contract limitations.
• Inquiries & Patient Concerns: Resolves moderate concerns and tracks follow-ups with patients.
• Kiosk: Educates patients and reports usage trends on kiosks.
• Patient Communication & Advocacy: Coordinates with departments, tailors messaging, and supports patients.
• Referrals: Validates insurance and tracks referral status.
• Scheduling: Schedules specialty visits and coordinates preparation.
• Transport: Coordinates special needs transport.
• Health Information Management (HIM) Coordination: Resolves minor chart issues and assists with release of information (ROI).
• Utilization Review Coordination: Provides documentation to utilization review (UR) teams.
• Can include other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: 1 year of patient access experience
