Job summary

Northwell is seeking a part-time Patient Access specialist at Norwalk Hospital to facilitate patient flow from scheduling through registration. You will gather demographic and financial information to secure payment sources and perform registration, eligibility verification, and scheduling duties.

This role requires coordinating patient visits, obtaining signatures, and ensuring HIPAA compliance. Working hours include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed in a busy health system environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma with minimum 2 years job-related experience.
• Associate degree with 6 months job-related experience preferred.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.
• Basic MS Word & MS Excel; strong customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, check them in, and guide to appointment location.
• Respond to phone inquiries and reduce call handling times through efficient scheduling.
• Search and select patient in EMR ensuring correct identification (EMPI).
• Schedule appointments for services following protocols in scheduling systems.
