Job summary

Northwell Health seeks a part-time Patient Access Clerk to support patient flow from scheduling through registration. 20 hours weekly (Wed 10:00am–3:00pm, Fri & Sat 9:00am–5:00pm) with possible evenings, weekends and holidays.

You will collect demographics, verify insurance eligibility, provide estimates, and process payments while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Prior customer service experience and familiarity with MS Word/Excel are preferred.

Qualifications

HS Diploma required with minimum 2 years related experience.
Associate degree preferred.
NAHAM certification within one year of hire (preferred).

Responsibilities

Greeting patients and/or physicians, staff, coworkers and guests promptly and professionally.
Respond to telephone calls per established customer service standards.
Search patient in hospital system to maintain accurate identification (EMPI).
Schedule appointments per protocols and enter accurate demographic data.
Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required information/authorization.
Provide estimates for services and actively solicit patient liability.
Enter testing orders and document necessary information.
Obtain signatures for required consents/notifications.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA and Patient Bill of Rights.
Perform other duties as assigned.
