Job summary

Northwell Health invites applications for a Part-Time Patient Access role in Danbury, CT. You will facilitate patient flow from scheduling to registration and help create a one-touch registration experience.

Responsibilities include demographics, insurance eligibility verification, estimating patient liability, and entering orders. Evening and weekend shifts are included, with adherence to HIPAA and patient rights policies.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required with minimum 2 years job-related experience.
• Associate degree with 6 months job-related experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year job-related experience preferred.
• Basic MS Word & MS Excel.
• Customer Service and organizational skills.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, physicians, staff and guests promptly and professionally; check-in and direct as needed.
• Respond to calls per customer service standards; provide information.
• Search and select patient in hospital system to maintain EMPI accuracy.
• Schedule services following protocols; may contact patients to confirm appointments.
• Enter demographic and financial information to aid in payment collection.
• Verify insurance eligibility; obtain information and authorization as needed.
• Provide service estimates and actively solicit patient liability.
• Enter testing orders when necessary; understand coding and charge master.
• Obtain signatures for consents and notifications.
• Maintain compliance with policies (HIPAA, EMTALA, Patient Bill of Rights).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
