Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for PRN Night shifts (7pm-7am) in a 20-bed small-format hospital. You will manage patient registrations, verify insurance details, and coordinate with the revenue cycle to secure payments while ensuring compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and hospital policies.

The role emphasizes exceptional customer service, accurate data entry, and collaboration with payers and healthcare teams to support hospital reimbursement and patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience handling patient registrations and insurance checks in healthcare settings.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Basic medical terminology knowledge is required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred in named markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with patients and families.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to ensure safety and proper registration.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to appropriate staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents as required.
