Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to act as a liaison among patients, payers, and the care team. You will verify demographics, confirm insurance, and collect out-of-pocket responsibilities to maximize hospital reimbursement.

The role emphasizes accurate data entry, strong customer service, and adherence to EMTALA, HIPAA, and related regulations in a fast-paced admissions setting.

Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting.
• Emergency Department registration experience preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; Spanish bilingual ability may be required in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient tracking and billing by collecting demographic information.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain authorizations when needed.
• Enter accurate demographic data to support revenue cycle processes.
• Provide courteous customer service and answer calls professionally.
• Maintain and file medical records and assist with transfers as needed.
• Support front desk operations and ensure HIPAA/compliance standards.
