Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a Patient Access Advocate II to perform primary patient registration for self-pay, government and commercial accounts at the Rio Rancho location. The role focuses on accurate data capture, insurance verification, and collecting at-time-of-service liabilities to ensure clean billing.

The candidate should have basic insurance knowledge, familiarity with CMS guidelines, and customer service experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 6 months of healthcare experience or 1 year of customer service background preferred.
• Pass the 2-week Patient Access Academy with a score of 85% or higher (within 6 months).
• CHAA, CHAM or other industry certification preferred.
• Basic understanding of insurance and medical terminology; familiarity with billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) is preferred.
• EPIC proficiency test must be passed with 85% at completion of training.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and gather/verify demographics and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits via online systems or payer contact.
• Document actions accurately to ensure audit trails and billing integrity.
• Educate patients on insurance coverage, responsibilities, and financial assistance options.
• Maintain compliance with CMS guidelines and admissions/billing requirements.
• Provide exceptional patient experience using CARES, AIDET and EPE tools.
• Collaborate with supervision to resolve issues and escalate conflicts when needed.
