Job summary

WellSpan Health is seeking a dedicated patient access staff member to support check‑in, scheduling, and payments across multiple practices. The role emphasizes accurate data collection, clear communication, and strong customer service in a busy healthcare setting.

You will collect deposits, verify insurance coverage, and guide patients through billing questions while ensuring efficient patient flow and accurate records. This full-time position offers growth within a respected health system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3–6 months front desk or physician office experience required.
• Customer Service and Safety Training within 90 days required.
• Introduction to Medical terminology within 180 days required.
• Insurance and Compliance Training within 1 year required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient interview to collect accurate financial, biographic and demographic information.
• Explains financial requirements and collects deposits or deductibles; explains insurance coverages and precertification requirements.
• Collects and reviews registrations for accuracy in information systems.
• Schedules patient appointments and processes referrals, pre-authorizations, test instructions and benefit verifications.
• Manages check-in/check-out, processes payments via kiosk or cash/receipts.
• Reviews pre-arrival messages and work queues; handles end-of-day cash reconciliation.
• Researches billing questions with billing service and supports process flow improvements and service recovery.
• Must be able to travel and work at other medical practices as needed.
