Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, is hiring a Patient Service Representative for the Pulmonary/Critical Care division. The role supports patient access, triages calls, and schedules provider appointments across our campus.

Responsibilities include updating demographics, processing referrals, and guiding patients through visit preparations. A high school diploma and 1–3 years in a related role are expected; a hybrid schedule may be available after 8 months based on performance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems including Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bilingual written and verbal communication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers, screens, and processes a high volume of calls professionally.
• Uses centralized scheduling system to schedule appointments.
• Verifies and updates patient demographics; referrals as needed.
• Documents payer information, including work comp/auto liability.
• Informs patients of prep and documents for scheduled visits.
• Coordinates data for scheduling visits, tests, and procedures.
• Triage calls for urgent information to the appropriate staff.
• Responds to provider emails in a timely manner.
