Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact, delivering exceptional service in person and over the phone. You will handle registration, scheduling, and coordination of patient needs, ensuring accurate demographics, financial responsibility, and smooth patient flow.

Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma, medical terminology knowledge, and several months of customer service experience; BLS may be required for certain locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Post-secondary education is helpful but not required.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential.
• Six months' customer service experience desired.
• BLS may be required for some locations/settings.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographics.
• Create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms.
• Inform patients about documents and capture signatures.
• Establish financial responsibility and assist with arrangements.
• Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances.
• Address registration errors or denied insurance claims via queue.
• Coordinate with nursing team and providers to schedule appointments.
• Obtain referrals and conduct pre-authorizations; arrange interpreter services.
• Check patients in/out and operate multi-line phone.
• Manage recall, waitlists, and act as switchboard operator.
