Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO seeks a Part-Time Patient Access Representative (24 hours per week) to be the first point of contact for patients. You will handle scheduling, registration, benefit verification and financial clearance with compassion and accuracy.

The role requires 1–3 years of clerical and customer service experience, familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans, and a high school diploma (some college helpful).

Qualifications

• 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service experience preferred.
• High School diploma required; some college helpful.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all components of the patient’s entrance into Mercy facilities, including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance.
• Communicate applicable financial responsibility and payment options to patients, and document outcomes.
• Maintain accurate patient data in the system and work with insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines and accreditation standards.
