Job summary

Mercy Hospital Perryville is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the first point of contact with patients. You will perform scheduling, registration, benefits verification, pre-certification and financial clearance, ensuring accurate patient data in the records.

The role requires careful adherence to Mercy service standards and knowledge of insurance guidelines. Shifts include days, evenings, and nights with rotating holidays and weekends; 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years clerical experience preferred; experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
• High School diploma required; some college helpful.
• Strong communication, with telephone etiquette and professional patient interactions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines; accuracy in daily tasks.
• Proficiency with multiple computer systems; ability to use a 10-key calculator.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient entrance including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance.
• Ensure the most accurate patient data is obtained and entered into the patient record.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines and regulatory requirements.
