Job summary

Emerus in Burleson, TX is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison among patients, payers, and the care team. You will gather demographics, verify insurance, secure out-of-pocket payments, and help maximize hospital reimbursement.

This PRN role requires EMTALA/HIPAA awareness, strong customer service, and accurate data entry. Experience in patient registration, insurance verification, and MS Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, verify, and enter complete and accurate demographic information.
• Verify insurance benefits and confirm correct payor and plan.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at time of service in a customer service manner.
• Maintain and scan medical records and handle transfers as needed.
