Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to perform scheduling, preregistration, financial clearance, authorization and referral validation, and pre-serviceability estimations. You will communicate clearly with patients and families to explain financial responsibilities and expectations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience, preferably within a financial clearance setting.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience operating PC and using software applications required.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduling, pre-registration, and financial clearance functions; verifies demographic data and eligibility, and ensures accurate plan codes and COB order.
• Verifies insurance information and identifies payor authorization/referral requirements.
• Provides documentation and follow-up to physician offices, case management, and payors regarding deficiencies.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, and posts payments in the ADT system; escalates complex liabilities to Financial Counselors as needed.
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership, staff, and external partners.
