Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to perform front-end patient processing, including admissions and registrations on Emergency and CPEP boards.

You will manage patient data, verify insurance and collect co-pays in a fast-paced hospital setting. Responsibilities include cash handling, documentation, and cross-training across Patient Access locations, with emphasis on HIPAA compliance and excellent communication with patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or AAS degree preferred; high school diploma required with 2–3 years progressive experience in the field.
• Advanced degree is a plus/requirement depending on service needs.
• Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Admit and check-in patients on Emergency and CPEP boards.
• Ensure proper documentation with patient charts and labels.
• Collect demographics, insurance information, and financial responsibilities.
• Perform desk and bedside registration and cross-train across locations.
• Maintain EPIC knowledge and update systems as needed.
• Handle front-end cash collections and patient financial communications.
