Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System seeks a Patient Access Account Specialist to support outpatient and inpatient registration and insurance verification. You will collect payments and ensure patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire.
• Medical terminology knowledge required; familiar with diagnostic and procedural coding and insurance verification.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient-focused customer service and handles outpatient and inpatient registration and insurance verification.
• Collects patient financial liability payments and ensures financial requirements are met (Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, referrals).
• Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families and physician offices.
