Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college helpful.
• 1–3 years clerical and customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
• Must communicate effectively in writing and orally; strong phone etiquette.
• Ability to work under stress and maintain accuracy with sensitive patient data.
• Proficiency with computer systems and 10-key entry required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, register patients, verify benefits and obtain pre-certifications.
• Handle financial clearance including pre-visit collections.
• Maintain accurate patient data in the medical record.
• Mentor fellow Patient Access co-workers and uphold Mercy standards.
