Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a patient access professional to greet and verify patient information, process registrations, and communicate insurance details. This role requires accurate data handling, clear communication, and adherence to HIPAA privacy guidelines.

You will manage verification of demographics, read insurance responses, and inform patients of financial responsibilities, while scheduling necessary follow‑ups and referrals as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Excellent communication and patient service skills.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics accurately.
• Ensure check‑in procedures are completed and monitor patient wait times.
• Read and interpret insurance responses and assign primary/secondary/tertiary coverage.
• Obtain necessary signatures, disclose privacy information, and explain financial obligations.
• Schedule follow-up appointments, including referrals or specialty services as needed.
• Communicate with patients about costs (copays, deductibles, coinsurance) and collect payments.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy, confidentiality, and patient rights.
