Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Patient Access Associate to verify demographics and insurance, determine payment arrangements, and assist patients with funding options for hospital and clinic services.

You will verify coverage, collect co-pays, and coordinate with clinical teams to set financial expectations while maintaining excellent customer service and accuracy in registrations.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or High School Diploma with 2 years of customer service experience.
• Patient Access Certification (preferred).
• One year relevant experience in a medical office or hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains/confirms and enters/updates demographic and insurance information for all patients.
• Secures and/or explains copies of insurance cards, forms of ID, and signatures and scans them into the system.
• Completes the MSP questionnaire when applicable.
• Discusses Advanced Directives with patients and obtains a copy for the patient’s record.
• Reviews regulatory forms and billing information with patients.
• Verifies insurance coverage and coordination of benefits, and informs patients of prepayment requirements or funding sources.
• Prepares estimates and informs patients of acceptable payment arrangements on balances.
• Coordinates with eligibility vendors to pursue funding reimbursement.
• Coordinates with clinical areas to establish financial expectations and performs daily duties to meet metrics.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge to perform duties and attend required trainings.
• Collects, posts, and reconciles patient payments and provides receipts.
• Calls patients prior to service to inform of expected liability and educates on benefits.
• If needed, secures a waiver and posts payments accurately.
• Performs service recovery at the point of service.
