Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients, collect co-pays, verify demographics and signatures, and act as a primary liaison for patients receiving services.

The PRN role requires accurate EMR documentation, strong customer service, and the ability to work with insurance companies and financial counselors. Some travel between sites may be necessary to support department needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in healthcare, business or related field preferred.
  • 1 year of related office or retail experience with direct customer contact required.
  • EMR experience preferred.
  • AMPFM, Misys or HIS experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA privacy laws preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients arriving for services and collect co-pay and deductible amounts.
  • Document demographic and insurance information accurately in the system.
  • Answer phones professionally and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Refer uninsured/underinsured patients to the Financial Counselor.
  • Verify patient information in EMR/HIS and ensure authorization when needed.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, guarantors, insurers and staff.
  • Prioritize daily work to ensure compliant and timely registration.
  • Participate in education programs to maintain skills.
