Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to greet patients, manage registration, handle payments, and coordinate scheduling and referrals. You will work with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate data entry.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, English communication, and familiarity with EHR and practice management systems. Flexibility to support multiple office locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required. Associate Degree preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must have the ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of medical office and terminology preferred.
• Experience with EHR and Practice Management Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors, patients, and families in a friendly professional manner and directs them appropriately.
• Maintains an efficient patient flow through registration and provides excellent service.
• Answers the telephone, routes calls, and takes accurate messages.
• Informs patients of delays and assists with comfort while awaiting physicians.
• Posts self-pay charges, collects payments, and reconciles daily payments and deposits.
• Reconciles batches and validates receipts and invoices.
• Scans insurance cards, verifies insurance, and updates patient accounts.
• Schedules appointments and uses waitlists per guidelines.
• Pre-authorizes and processes referrals and orders as required.
• Communicates issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager promptly.
