Job summary

Danbury Hospital is seeking a Patient Access professional to streamline registration and scheduling for patients. You will greet patients, verify demographics, and ensure accurate insurance eligibility as part of a smooth, one-touch registration experience.

Responsibilities include scheduling, collecting payments, and maintaining EMPI integrity while handling calls and assisting patients with special needs. The role requires strong customer service and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required; 2+ years related experience preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and staff promptly and professionally.
• Check patients into the system and direct them based on appointment location and counseling status.
• Respond to incoming calls per customer service standards and reduce call abandonment.
• Search for patient records accurately to maintain EMPI integrity.
• Schedule services and enter demographic and financial information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain payor information.
• Provide cost estimates for services and collect patient liability.
• Enter orders and ensure compliance with HIPAA and department policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
