Job summary

Danbury Hospital is hiring for a part-time Eve/Night Patient Access Clerk. This role supports patient flow from scheduling to check-in, capturing demographics and financial information to ensure accurate patient identity and appropriate payment sources.

Activities include insurance eligibility verification, scheduling, and providing cost estimates. Working hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays; benefits are provided as outlined.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with at least 2 years of related experience.
• Associate degree preferred.
• NAHAM certification within one year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and staff professionally and check them in, directing them as needed.
• Handle scheduling tasks and respond to calls to reduce wait times and improve service.
• Search for patient records accurately within the hospital system to ensure correct identity.
• Schedule services following protocols in scheduling systems and EMRs.
• Enter complete demographic and financial information to secure payment for services.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary billing information and authorization.
• Provide cost estimates and actively collect patient liability when appropriate.
• Enter testing orders and understand coding and charge descriptions.
• Obtain signatures for required consents and notifications.
• Maintain compliance with department policies and HIPAA guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
