Job summary

Danbury Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Patient Access professional for overnight work (11:30pm–7:30am) with three 8-hour shifts weekly, including alternating weekends and holidays as needed. The role involves registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and patient financial counseling to ensure a smooth, one-touch process.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, managing appointments, verifying demographics and eligibility, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 2 years related experience.
• Associate degree preferred with 6 months related experience.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients and physicians, checking in, and directing based on location and status.
• Responding to calls and reducing abandoned call rates through best practices.
• Search and verify patient identity in the hospital system (EMPI).
• Schedule services and confirm appointments per protocol.
• Enter demographic and financial information for billing.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required payor information.
• Provide service estimates and collect patient liabilities.
• Enter testing orders and understand coding and charge master.
• Obtain signatures for consents and notifications.
• Maintain compliance with department policies and HIPAA/EMTALA/Patient Rights.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
