Job summary

Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre, PA is seeking a front line patient access representative responsible for greeting, registering patients, verifying demographics, and guiding them through check-in and appointment scheduling in a busy office environment.

You will read and interpret insurance responses, communicate financial responsibilities, collect fees where applicable, and ensure HIPAA privacy standards are followed while maintaining accurate medical records and facilitating referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 1 year related work experience.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients, verify demographics and collect required information.
• Check-in procedures, monitor wait times and communicate changes to patients.
• Read and interpret insurance responses and assign primary/secondary/tertiary coverage.
• Explain financial obligations, collect fees when appropriate and post payments.
• Complete regulatory forms and ensure HIPAA privacy standards are followed.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with recalls and reschedules.
• Communicate with patients via multiple channels regarding appointments and inquiries.
