Job summary

You will verify demographics, read insurance responses, explain financial obligations, collect fees, and maintain accurate medical records while upholding HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year related work experience preferred.
• Strong clerical, communication and confidentiality skills.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients for appointments and verify demographics.
• Monitor patient wait times and communicate changes to the patient as necessary.
• Reads and interprets insurance responses.
• Assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
• Ensure disclosure and privacy information is provided and obtain necessary signatures.
• Explain financial obligations and collect fees at time of service as appropriate.
• Complete necessary regulatory forms and release medical records.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including referrals or ancillary services.
• Process multi-channel messages regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patient or guarantor of anticipated financial responsibility and collect accordingly.
• Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality.
• Manage work queues to resolve accounts timely.
• Maintain productivity and quality performance.
