Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Access/Registration Clerk for a full-time, 40-hour work week (Mon–Fri, 8:00 am–4:30 pm) with benefits. The role involves greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, and collecting essential demographic and insurance information within the Patient Access area.

You will screen data for insurance eligibility, assist with pre-certification and referrals, identify self-pay patients for financial assistance, and support cross-training

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate's Degree is preferred.
• One year of health care experience is preferred.
• CPR certification may be required depending on the position.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients and provide patient access support.
• Answer telephone calls, schedule appointments, and pull/file charts.
• Deliver courteous patient and family service following standard procedures.
• Gather demographics, insurance, and physician information during registration.
• Verify insurance eligibility and communicate discrepancies to customers.
• Ensure pre-certification and referral requirements are met and inform customers.
• Identify self-pay patients and refer to financial assistance when applicable.
• Maintain open communication with departments and clinical staff; assist in onboarding new staff.
