Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Clerk to greet and register patients, answer calls, and schedule visits. You will pull and file charts as indicated and ensure accurate demographic and insurance information is captured at registration.

You will communicate with clinical staff and other departments, verify insurance eligibility, and support in guiding patients through pre-certification requirements. CPR may be required for certain positions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Experience in healthcare registrations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers patients.
• Answers telephone calls and schedules appointments.
• Obtains and verifies demographic, insurance, and physician information.
• Screens data for insurance eligibility and communicates differences to customers.
• Ensures pre-certification and referral requirements are met and explains to customers.
• Assists in identifying self-pay patients and refers to financial assistance when needed.
• Maintains open communication with Patient Access and clinical staff.
• Supports training of new employees.
