Qualifications

• Shift schedule: THURSDAY & FRIDAY – 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Post-secondary education helpful.
• One year of work experience, preferable in a medical office setting.
• Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential.
• Six months' customer service experience desired.
• May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients/residents and verify demographics to register/schedule.
• Create electronic files and route necessary forms and documents.
• Educate patients/residents and obtain signatures on paperwork.
• Establish and assign financial responsibility and assist with arrangements.
• Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on balances.
• Address registration work queue issues, denied claims, and maintenance of the registration database.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals; handle pre-authorizations and interpreter services.
• Collaborate with nursing team and providers to coordinate patient needs; manage recalls and waitlists.
• Operate multi-line phones and, depending on location, serve as switchboard operator.
• Mentor new Patient Access staff and promote professionalism.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and provide excellent customer service.
• Work as part of a team and independently as required; follow notes in medical terminology.
