HealthPartners is seeking a patient-service focused Medical Receptionist for our Alaska clinics. The role is the first point of contact, coordinating check-in, co-pays, and appointment scheduling to support efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities include registration, verifying insurance, data entry, and facilitating communication across departments. Excellent communication and multitasking are essential in this fast-paced clinic environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduate of formal medical reception training or equivalent customer service program.
  • Two years experience as a medical receptionist.
  • Two years experience in a customer service position.
  • One year experience using data lookup and data entry on a mainframe or PC based system.
  • One year of customer service experience (phone or in-person) within the last five years.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Check-in patients and collect co-pays accurately and professionally.
  • Use computer-based system to verify patient information and communicate benefits.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow according to scheduling policies.
  • Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, and collect necessary demographic data.
  • Coordinate specialty appointments and facilitate timely communication within the clinic.
  • Answer calls, take messages, and prepare records for new patient appointments.
  • Maintain appointment schedules and communicate wait times diplomatically.
  • Collaborate with Appointment Center to meet patient and provider needs.
  • Perform general clerical duties (faxing, copying) as needed.
  • Support revenue collection and accurate documentation of patient information.
