Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to be the welcoming first point of contact for guests. You will handle phone inquiries, guide patients through check-in, verify insurance data, enroll in FMH, and collect payments.

You will coordinate with Care Teams and departments to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate data in the EHR. The role emphasizes exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced office environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Comfortable with technology and basic computer use.
• Preferred: 2-3 years of college coursework.
• Preferred: at least 1 year medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and route to appropriate area; take messages as needed.
• Assist guests with check-in, verify demographics and insurance information.
• Educate guests on FollowMyHealth portal usage; enroll them as needed.
• Collect patient payments and reconcile receipts to balances.
• Schedule provider appointments and manage availability to optimize utilization.
• Document guest requests in the EHR and coordinate with Care Team.
• Drive first call resolution and maintain service excellence at front desk.
