Job summary

Avera Dermatology Minnesota Ave is seeking a patient services specialist to coordinate patient flow, manage calls and schedules, and support providers and nurses with non-clinical tasks.

The role emphasizes accurate record keeping, timely communications, and teamwork to maintain an efficient office environment. A High School diploma with 3–6 months related experience is preferred. CMA is not required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and 3-6 months related experience.
• Excellent communication and ability to handle calls and patient inquiries.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters, assisting providers and nurses with cancellations, fill-ins, double booking approvals, follow-up appointments, reminder calls, etc.
• Responsible to prepare and maintain patient records in an orderly fashion and assure they are accessible to the provider.
• Answers and routes calls promptly, alerting appropriate personnel to urgent messages/issues that require immediate attention.
• Assist the provider and nurse with other support duties as time allows, including but not limited to: making copies, opening mail, completion of disabilities forms, complete DME forms, make referrals, running reports, and fax items as requested.
• Provides information to patients/visitors within scope of knowledge or refers to appropriate individuals.
