Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Patient Access Clerk to support the Southeast Revenue Cycle team. You will register and pre-register patients, verify insurance, obtain necessary authorizations, and coordinate scheduling with departments to manage authorizations and patient payments.

The role requires strong communication and detail orientation. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (Bachelor's preferred), good medical terminology knowledge, and experience with hospital billing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and customer services skills required.

Responsibilities

• Registers or pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that require authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
• Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged.
• Requests upfront payment of deposits from responsible party.
