Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of clerical support in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Basic medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules appointments accurately per department guidelines and uses the electronic health system for requests, waitlists and follow-ups.
• Performs real time eligibility checks and routes scheduling accordingly; ensures authorizations are linked at check-in.
• Records patient demographics, insurance and billing data; collects copays and processes payments; provides printouts and schedules follow-ups as needed.
• Maintains department files and prepares patient areas; handles messages and work queue items in the EHR.
• Delivers courteous patient service, facilitates interpreters when needed, supports continuous improvement, and protects confidentiality and safety.
