Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for the Marquam Hill Internal Medicine Clinic. You will gather and verify patient information, confirm insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, schedule appointments, and deliver prompt customer service in a busy primary care setting.

The role requires at least six months in a medical office or one year in a high-volume public contact position, basic keyboarding skills, and proficiency with EPIC and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, OR one year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position.
• Basic keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.
• Successful completion of a formal OHSU Administrative Internship Program may substitute for one year of experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and EPIC scheduling; knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provides high quality customer service to both external and internal customers in line with health care industry standards.
• Check patients in and out; schedule return appointments and ancillary services; obtain necessary authorizations.
• Gathers/verifies patient information including demographics and insurance; confirms eligibility and clarifies managed care arrangements.
• Takes patient messages and relays information promptly to providers or care managers.
• Schedules new and return patient appointments online; handles correspondence and records requests.
• Other duties as assigned
