Job summary

Mountain Laurel Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Clerk to manage day-to-day patient flow, scheduling, and front-desk duties within a community clinic. You will verify insurance, collect co-pays, and support the revenue cycle while maintaining excellent patient service.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of related experience, preferably in a medical setting, with strong computer and HIPAA knowledge.

  • Ability to learn and use EMR/PM systems.
  • Attention to detail in data entry and billing.
  • Respect for patient privacy and HIPAA rules.

Responsibilities

  • Enter patient information in PM system and verify insurance eligibility.
  • Determine sliding fee eligibility and input payer codes accurately.
  • Check-in/out patients and collect co-pays; post payments daily.
  • Answer phones, route calls, and document in EMR.
  • Schedule appointments per MLMC guidelines and triage when needed.
  • Communicate with clinical team about patient arrival and schedule changes.
  • Maintain knowlege of revenue cycle and collaborate with Billing Specialists.
  • Support monthly provider schedules and maintain patient records.
