Job summary

The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Patient Access Services Representative for MUSC Children's Summey Medical Pavilion. You will deliver high‑level customer service, register patients, and prepare accounts for billing to maximize hospital payments.

You will verify payment methods, assist with copays and payment arrangements, and help patients access assistance programs. Prior experience with hospital systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures is a plus.
• Experience with hospital information systems or word processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and prepare accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing.
• Verify payment methods (insurance, self-pay, agency) and patient information.
• Assist in collecting copayments and deductibles and set up payment arrangements.
• Schedule pediatric appointments and procedures as part of care coordination.
