Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Registration Services professional to perform complex duties in patient registration and scheduling. This role supports ED and outpatient areas, handles demographic and insurance data, and ensures proper documentation according to HIPAA and hospital policy.

The position emphasizes accurate data entry, insurance verification, and coordinating multiple services for patients, with a 32-hour schedule and a day shift in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Must have computer skills that include use of Windows and the ability to navigate.
• Customer service skills both verbal and written; with a variety of internal and external customers.
• Ability to work in a high volume, team-oriented environment.
• English speaking, reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collects and enters demographic, insurance and other related patient information into the computer-based patient registration/scheduling system. Ensures signatures on HIPAA, Consent to Treat, etc.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage and follows guidelines to obtain pre-authorization and physician referrals prior to visits.
• Obtains and verifies workers’ compensation and automobile coverage when required.
• Schedules Radiology, Lab and basic ancillary service appointments.
• Monitors and maintains patient access and revenue cycle work queues to ensure accurate billing.
• Maintains accurate records, logs, files and related information.
