Job summary

Sanford Health, a leading rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Patient Access Representative to provide exceptional service at the first point of contact, in clinic or by phone. You will welcome patients, verify demographics, collect payments, and support scheduling and referrals.

This role involves registration, physician scheduling coordination, and coordination of telemedicine where needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Post-secondary education helpful.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential.
• Six months' customer service experience desired.
• May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, greet and verify demographics.
• Create, scan & route documents or electronic forms.
• Inform patients about documents and obtain signatures.
• Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and assists with arrangements.
• Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances.
• Coordinate & schedule appointments with nursing team and providers.
• Arrange referrals & conduct pre-authorization.
• Operate multi-line phone and switchboard.
• Check patients in/out and manage recall/waitlists.
