Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a Patient Services Representative in Greenville to register patients, verify demographics and insurance cards, and manage scheduling. The role requires accurate data entry, strong customer service, and the ability to handle payments and referrals with care.

Responsibilities include explaining financial options to patients, updating medical records, and supporting multiple physician practices as needed.

• Handles scheduling, appointment coordination and patient information entry.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary point of contact between patients and physician practices.
• Answers internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner, routes calls, schedules patients, and enters necessary information for scheduling.
• Processes patients in practice as they present for their appointments.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems to maintain patient flow and informs supervisor of issues.
• Processes admission paperwork including basic insurance verification and secures/verifies demographics.
• Records time indicators for lobby wait times and analyzes patient throughput.
• Calculates patient liabilities, collects payments, and reconciles cash drawer.
• Performs charge entry for external services when needed.
• Schedules referrals or follow-up appointments and assists with MyChart and online scheduling.
• Obtains referrals, authorizations and pre-certifications as applicable.
• Pulls patient charts, files, and routes to clinical staff as required.
• Verifies RX benefits in the EHR per protocol and assists financial counseling as needed.
