Job summary

The Patient Services Specialist I at UTMB Health in Galveston creates a positive patient experience by coordinating clerical and medical activities, handling patient registration, and guiding new and returning patients to UTMB services.

Working on-site Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, you will support customer service, scheduling, registration, and billing communications in a hospital/clinical setting, with an emphasis on patient confidentiality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and no experience; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained during employment.
• Experience in patient registration, scheduling, and healthcare support is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provides high level customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers.
• Coordinates appointments, billing communication, and financial counseling where applicable.
• Registers patients, verifies eligibility, and documents third party coverage.
• Disposes of patient information securely and maintains confidentiality.
• Supports team with clerical tasks and ensures accurate data entry.
