Job summary

Community Health Center in Fort Dodge, IA is seeking a Patient Access Center Representative to manage appointments across Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and other services. On-site during probation with potential hybrid work after probation, this non-exempt, full-time role focuses on accurate scheduling, customer service, and policy adherence.

The position reports to the Patient Access Manager or designee and requires a high school diploma or GED plus at least one year of customer service

Qualifications

Minimum one year of customer service experience.
Ability to use computer systems and office software.

Responsibilities

Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments for all departments.
Triage appointment requests based on visit type, urgency, and provider availability.
Enter and update appointment details in the EHR (Epic/OCHIN).
Coordinate same-day, urgent, and walk-in appointments.
Provide patients with clear appointment instructions.
Answer incoming calls professionally.
Utilize approved scripting and assist with MyChart enrollment.
Refer non-scheduling issues appropriately.
Verify demographics and insurance.
Communicate sliding fee discount information when applicable.
Keep teams updated on scheduling changes.
Adhere to HIPAA, HRSA, and organizational policies.
Participate in training and quality improvement initiatives.
