Job summary

Bon Secours in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Patient Services Representative for our outpatient orthopedic clinic affiliated with a large physician group. You will be the first point of contact, handling patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to ensure smooth visits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary point of contact between patients and physician practices
• Provides strong communication and excellent customer service by greeting patients and community in a respectful manner
• Answers calls and routes them, schedules patients, and enters information for scheduling
• Processes patients at registration and updates demographics and insurance information
• Troubleshoots problems to maintain patient flow and informs supervisor of issues
• Verifies insurance and facilitates authorizations/pre-certifications as applicable
• Retrieves and files patient charts per policy and routes to staff
• Verifies RX benefits in the EHR and refers patients to financial counselors when needed
