Atrium Health is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Clerk to welcome patients, collect demographic and insurance information, and complete registration for walk-ins and scheduled visits. You will verify coverage, explain balances, and help patients navigate financial clearance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid basics, HIPAA compliance, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced office environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA rules and insurance pre-certification requirements.
• Strong numerical and problem-solving abilities; attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; professional demeanor.
• Ability to handle confidential information per internal policies.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients and manage flow to ensure courteous, efficient service.
• Complete registration for walk-ins and update demographics/insurance.
• Verify benefits, calculate and collect patient liabilities, and collect balances.
• Ensure financial clearance per policy when needed and refer to Financial Counselor as required.
• Provide documents and schedule follow-up appointments; support service improvements.
