Job summary

Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System seeks a Patient Access Representative/Scheduling Specialist to support registration, scheduling, and eligibility services in ambulatory and acute care. You will collect demographics, verify third-party coverage, and prepare charts while maintaining patient confidentiality.

The role requires proficiency with scheduling systems (RPMS, Moonwalk) and experience handling sensitive information, often coordinating with Benefit Coordinators to assist patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency plus 2 years of experience in a healthcare organization.
• Knowledge of eligibility requirements of the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System program.
• Understanding of Privacy Act of 1974 and handling confidential health information.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to interview patients effectively.
• Experience identifying third-party resources (Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Benefits, SSI, etc.).
• Proficient with electronic clerical systems and scheduling tools.
• Knowledge of patient registration/scheduling systems.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Meditech or similar EHR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support duties for physicians, nurses, and staff across ambulatory and acute care areas.
• Receive and relay telephone, intercom, and electronic messages.
• Maintain appointments and clinic availability using RPMS and Moonwalk; review data for completeness and signatures.
• Interview patients to determine eligibility and create or reactivate health records; verify third-party eligibility.
• Ensure correct medical record numbers to avoid duplicates; maintain data entry accuracy.
• Collaborate with Patient Benefits Coordinators to identify third-party resources for patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
