Job summary

Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia, MN is seeking a Patient Access Specialist I to deliver courteous service while registering patients, coordinating scheduling, and ensuring accurate demographic and insurance data. You will support scheduling across ambulatory and acute care, and serve as a point of contact for patients and staff.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail, with duties covering front desk, appointment processing, and basic patient financial

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of post-secondary training in a healthcare-related field or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of experience working with the general public, preferably in healthcare.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a team setting.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization.
• Proficient with Word, Internet, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments with appropriate providers, places, and times.
• Complete the appointment process per MLHS policies and guidelines.
• Verify patient information for accuracy (demographics, insurance, etc.).
• Provide monthly scheduling reports as requested.
• Monitor and adjust provider schedules as needed.
• Greet and direct patients and visitors; assist at the clinic.
• Register patients at time of visit.
• Operate switchboard for calls and pages.
• Serve as a resource for service areas.
