Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking an Ambulatory Practice Coordinator I to support daily outpatient operations in Baltimore. You will coordinate patient access, scheduling, registration, and customer service, serving as the primary contact for patients and staff to maintain a smooth clinic workflow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Healthcare setting experience preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors professionally.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments per clinic policy.
• Register patients and verify demographic, insurance, and referral information.
• Manage incoming calls, messages, and appointment requests.
• Coordinate patient check-in and check-out.
• Collect copayments and other financial obligations.
• Obtain authorizations, referrals, and medical records as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate patient information in the EMR system.
• Assist with provider scheduling and clinic workflow coordination.
• Monitor appointment schedules and address access issues.
• Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, and ancillary departments.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Support quality, safety, and customer service initiatives.
• Perform general administrative tasks (filing, scanning, faxing, etc.).
