Job summary

University of Maryland Medical Center seeks an Ambulatory Practice Coordinator for its Neurology clinic. This hospital-based outpatient role focuses on scheduling, registrations, referrals, and pre-authorization in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with Neurologists and a collaborative team to ensure smooth patient flow, accurate records, and clear communication about appointments and insurance information. EPIC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge of various insurance coverage (i.e. Medicaid, HMOs) including UMMS insurance partners.
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication with patients and staff.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in scheduling patient appointments, tests and referrals in line with physician schedules and policies.
• Register patients and verify demographics and insurance information.
• Obtain referrals and authorizations as needed and document in the EMR system.
• Provide patient education on charges, co-pays, and policy details.
• Coordinate communication between clinicians, staff and patients.
• Assist with basic office duties and supply management.
