Job summary

Ocean Beach Health in Washington is seeking a full-time Centralized Scheduler to manage hospital and clinic referrals and schedule all inpatient and outpatient procedures. You will answer multi-line calls, review prior authorizations, and input data in the EMR system while supporting a patient-focused team.

The ideal candidate will have medical terminology knowledge, insurance verification experience, and strong communication skills within a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience with medical terminology, insurance verification, or healthcare.
• Knowledge of EMR or medical billing software and related hardware.
• Strong data entry, spreadsheet and word processing skills.
• Experience with commercial or government insurance carriers.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to multitask in a demanding healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Verify eligibility and benefits with payers and obtain authorizations.
• Enter deductible amounts, co-pays, effective dates, and authorization numbers in EMR.
• Identify payer sources and document conversations with payers.
• Receive and review prior authorization requests and reschedule if needed.
• Provide issue resolution for patient care issues and refer to manager when appropriate.
• Handle high call volume and prioritize tasks.
