Job summary

The Hospitals of Providence Neighborhood Hospitals is seeking a Patient Access Specialist in El Paso to serve as a liaison among patients, payers, and the care team. You will verify demographics, secure out-of-pocket payments, and help maximize hospital reimbursement.

Responsibilities include coordinating patient intake, verifying benefits, obtaining authorizations, and ensuring accurate data entry while delivering courteous service to patients and families in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting, preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook), strongly preferred.
• Fluency in English; English & Spanish required in the El Paso Market.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships.
• Identify and triage patients to ensure safety at hospital entry.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in the system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Assist in efficient collections at time of service.
• Scan registration and clinical documents into the system.
